Anmeldung: register your address

In Germany you must register your residence (Anmeldung) at the Bürgeramt within two weeks of moving in. You cannot open a bank account, receive your tax ID or sign a permanent rental contract without it. To register you need your passport, the completed form and a Wohnungsgeberbestätigung — a landlord confirmation that you live at the address. HAJ airport is about 15 minutes away for that first trip home to visit family.
